Harvest Happiness
Has anyone else out there felt like holding on to happiness during this time has been slippery and elusive? I have. I’ve broken down, screamed, sat in silence and cried until the tears dried on my cheeks. I hate that masks are now normal, staying far apart is mandatory and that everyone seems to be surrounded by fear. It is suffocating and I have sought relief in different ways. I’ve found relief in writing. I’ve found it sitting at the feet of Jesus and talking to him out loud. I’ve found it when my husband hugs me, and I have found it looking out at my garden and seeing that life is continuing on. The sun is still shining, the rain still soaks the earth and things are still growing. It reminded me that it is time to grab my favorite wicker basket, go out and harvest happiness.
Last weekend my mom, sister and I went to a local farmers market. The produce was glorious especially the vast strawberry field. My old self was ready to jump from the car and embrace it all…until fear kept me in my seat. Was I going to be bombarded with germs? Is it dangerous? What are the cleaning standards here? The questions were endless and, to be honest, we almost left until we realized enough was enough. We can’t live in fear. Yes PLEASE, dear readers, take every precaution in today’s world, but DON’T be afraid to live! If we let our todays be filled with unseen and unknown fears then our tomorrows are lost.
We opened the door, got out and filled our baskets with the most beautiful strawberries I have ever seen! After soaking my berries in Thieves Fruit and Veggie soak to get them all clean (check out my Insta page for this magical goodness) I grabbed a few of my favorite ingredients and made the happiest smoothie with my little harvest. Check out this simple recipe:
Happy Harvest Smoothie
1 cup fresh or frozen berries
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup greek yogurt
1/2 spinach
Coconut shavings & chopped walnuts for garnish
Yes, the world seems dark right now, but the truth is that happiness has been growing this entire time! It has been waiting for us to have the courage to step out and harvest it. So, lovely readers, find the things that make you remember that you can still smile, laugh and experience joy right now. Grab your basket, walk out in the the wild fields before you and harvest your happiness.
Happy harvesting,
from this little house wife,
xoxo, Kaleigh
