Simple Kitchen Magic

You guys should have seen the look my husband gave me when I went prancing into the kitchen and said, “Soooo, I came up with a DIY project I think would be great for the kitchen!” If you guys know Josh then you know his eyes squinted, one eye brow raised up and a curious smile crept across his face at hearing this. Instead of looking at me like I was crazy, he was ready to roll up his sleeves and grab the hammer. He gets excited to support my ideas and make my dreams reality and it melts my heart every time.

Back to the kitchen remodel. Our house is a 2020 new build home. We just happened to find it a month before it was finished, so we didn’t have any participation in the building process. While I loved our kitchen, I have always wanted open concept kitchen cabinets. I am a visionary, so I opened all of the cabinets and totally saw the magic that could light up our kitchen without the doors on….that’s when my mind began to spin and Joshs’ drill knowledge was called upon. (Find a guy who is willing to grab a drill and take down brand new cabinets just so you can visualize your dream).

Quick Tips:

-Add texture elements: books, wooden bowls, food canisters

-Stacking your dishes gives the look class and simple sophistication

-Wicker or metal baskets are great for mixing it up and adding dimension

-Pull in personal elements like family cook books and sentimental china

-Use plants to give it that vibrant pop

The doors came off and we both looked at each other and knew we loved this simple transformation. Moral of this post is to play around with your dreams. Try them out, adjust them, redirect them, breathe LIFE into them! I asked Josh later on why he was so willing to take a drill to our brand new kitchen just because I had a vision in my head. He replied, “because you believed in the idea! And because cabinets can be put back on, so why not try?” So, if anyone out there reading this is now inspired to take a leap on your visions know that I am cheering you on! Don’t stop creating, visualizing or dreaming. Grab that drill, sew your own curtains, use that extra yarn to make macrame wall decor and DREAM ON.

Happy creating,

From this little house wife, xoxo,

Kaleigh Castle
